Congratulations to the 2011 Meijer Great Choices Film Festival Winners!!
I am pleased to announce that out of 60 awards given at the Meijer Great Choices Film Festival. Thornapple Kellogg had 7 Total Winners (second only to Byron Center with 10). This competition was open to all high school students in the State of Michigan. Each student had to complete a 30 second PSA (public service announcement) in the following areas. K-6 Character, Health or Diversity and 7-12 Character,
Health or Diversity. Three gift card award winners (1st-$2000, 2nd-$1000 and 3rd- $500) are given in each of these categories, plaques are given to students placing 4th - 10th .

Top Prize Places along with the viewing of these top PSA’s will be announced at a ceremony on Saturday, June 4th beginning at 10:30am at Celebration Cinema North in Grand Rapids. A breakfast buffet will begin at 10:30am with Award Presentations beginning at 11:15am.
We had an additional 25 students who entered wonderful PSA’s but did not place.

TK Digital Media Students win awards at the annual Michigan Interscholastic Press Association (MIPA) Video Contest!
TK Digital Media Students received two 3rd place awards and three honorable mentions at this year’s 2008-2009 MIPA video contest, this is the most awards the students have won in our 3 years of competing. Among the winners are current seniors Dylan Hamilton and Jacob Bauer along with 2008 graduate Amy DeMaagd who received two honorable mentions for two Meijer commercials they created. Receiving honorable mention in the Music Video category are current sophomores Alyssa Armstrong and Autumn Andrus who worked with 2001 graduate Jessica Price before she was entered in the “America’s Got Talent” competition. This is the third year in a row that TK has placed or received honorable mention in this category.
Receiving a 3rd place in the category of Animation is current senior Dylan Hamilton for his animated opening for his short film.
In the toughest and most entered category, 2008 graduates Brittany Benjamin and Jordan Peterson placed 3rd in the News Story category with their news story on the 2008 Science Olympiad competition.

Over the course of the semester, our Advanced Digital Media class has produced some good ENG (Electronic News Gathering) Segments. Click on the links under the TKTV heading to see what these students have produced. These include stories about TK schools and the Middleville/Surrounding Communities. Under the heading of Homecoming 2008, you will be able to watch the 2008 Homecoming Game and festivities. You will also be able to see our full show production. I hope you enjoy these segments.
